Condition 98%. Stunning 2019, Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard, 60th Anniversary Reissue in Original Factory Burst VOS finish (this is how they left the factory, before they faded). This is so close to the original, it's almost a clone, and most importantly the weight is right: the 50's Les Paul were made from superior tone woods, they were light, under 9lb, nearer 8lb, which added to their resonance, and this example weighs in at just 8lb 1&1/2 ounces. This is a non weight-relieved guitar. The lightness is made possible by superior tone wood selection and does not lessen the sustain, rather it increases it through the added resonance. Add to that a fabulous true 59 profile neck (modelled directly from Bonomassa's original 59 Burst), unpotted Alnico 111 custom humbuckers modelled on the original PAF's, paper-in-oil capacitors, authentic hide glues and annaline dyes, period correct fret-wire, aluminium bridge and stop-bar, and this is as close as you'll get to an original 1959 Les Paul without a spare £250,000 or access to a DeLorean with Flux Capacitor.
I bought this guitar from Guitar Village in 2020 and it is in mint-condition, just a few small marks as you would expect of an instrument that has been played, and of course being a VOS finish, minor play wear comes as standard. The guitar is set up to perfection with a top-strung (a'la Jimmy Page) stop-bar, which makes it a bit slinkier to play, with better sustain, though I can easily set it back to standard. I'm selling it because arthritis is making it near impossible for me to play. My loss, your gain. It comes in the original Lifton case with all accessories, hang-tags, etc.
