Condition 96%. Serial number: 121499 c.1933. Lovely matching set of the classic Leica III rangefinder in black enamel with nickel fittings. This is a J.Lizars of Glasgow engraved camera, and would have left the Leitz production line as a chrome camera. At some point - I imagine before Lizars retailed it due to the difference in the engraving - it was refinished in black, perhpas as aspecial order. We have seen after-market refinishes aplenty and they are easily discernable in their excecution. This is clearly a Leitz refinish judging by the quality and clearly completed before Lizars retailed the camera. Fitted with a correct 5cm F3.5 nickel Elmar. Excellent shutter speeds. Superb rangefinder image. Clean, naturally bloomed lens, showing no significant haze, scratches or fungus. Very light use only to the camera, but honest and age appropriate. Beautiful example to use or display. Stunning!
